Puffin Sport 10.5' (no deck)

Puffin Swift 14' includes 150D deck

The Swift is faster and sleeker than the 12 ft model. It shares convenience features with its 12' sibling, but additional structure has been added to increase stiffness. We enjoy paddling the Swift because of its speed and tracking. For activities like fishing and bird watching, the solid stability of the beamier Sport or Kayak 12 may be a better alternative.

The Saranac offers the convenience features of the Puffin II, but in an even lighter package. And it even offers a deck option with two cockpits that can support spray skirts. The new Saranac hull and deck fabrics are very attractive and give the kayak a sporty new look. Optional Saranac decks offer one or two cockpits, making this kayak as versatile as it is good looking. Leave the decks behind for fishing convenience. Use the double deck for a day trip with a friend, or take the solo deck for a couple of weeks of camping.the Saranac will take it all in stride.

XT-15 Solo Kayak

XT-15 Solo. We love paddling this kayak. 23 inch beam and moderate volume makes it a great kayak for day tripping or a few days of camping. Its speed makes miles easy, and great stability lets you relax and enjoy the ride. This is a proven travel kayak. We paddled samples in Europe twice before XTs were even in production. That involved seven flights on several airlines, six train rides and an assortment of buses and subways. The coast of Norway is a fantastic place for kayak touring!

XT-16 Double Kayak

Solo Deck for XT-16 Kayak (600D)

XT kayaks have low sides and are intended to be paddled with a deck, so both XT-15 and XT-16 have a deck included. The XT-16 comes with a deck for two paddlers, but it can also be paddled solo. A solo deck is available so the kayak can be perfectly balanced. The solo deck weighs 6 pounds (2.7 kg). XT decks are made of 600 denier polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped ripstop pattern. Color options are red or mango with grey trim. The 140 is an excellent all-round solo canoe with the capacity and maneuverability to carry gear for two or three weeks on a wilderness river or enjoy a day trip near home.

PakCanoe 150 Solo

PakCanoe 150 is best if you like to paddle solo but want to have capacity for two people and camping gear for a week. It has good speed and tracks well on flatwater, yet performs well on Class III whitewater.

PakCanoe 150T

PakCanoe 150T is identical to the 150 with the exception of 5 cross ribs that add 3" of beam. The 150T is a stable canoe for family use, fishing, and up to a week of backcountry camping. Like the 150, the 150T is excellent on whitewater.

PakCanoe 160

PakCanoe 160 is the best all-round canoe. It can carry two people with gear for 2 or 3 weeks on a wilderness river and is a comfortable canoe for a day trip on a lake or whitewater river. Its great stability makes it a favorite for family use.

PakCanoe 165

PakCanoe 165 is a smaller wilderness tripper. It works well for two moderate size paddlers and gear for 2 or 3 weeks. The 165 is narrower than the 170 and makes a nice expedition solo. Wider cross ribs can be installed for greater stability.

PakCanoe 170 is the wilderness work horse. It will carry enough gear for a full scale expedition. Because of its larger size, it spreads the load over a larger surface area and will float in shallower water.

Mitchell 2-Piece Canoe Paddle

Mitchell paddles are very well made, and it shows. They have an attractive laminated wooden blade, strongly reinforced against damage from rough use on long expeditions. The carbon shaft has a built-in joint and there is a comfortable wooden T-grip. This is a paddle you will be happy to spend long hours with on a demanding wilderness trip.

Mohawk 2-Piece Canoe Paddle (58″)

Breathable Spray Skirt for 150D Decks

Puffins have two different cockpit sizes. The original cockpit is 29 inches long and the smaller spray skirt will fit. This cockpit size is on all gray Puffin Sport decks, all Puffin Kayak 12 decks, all Puffin Swift decks, and all Puffin II solo decks. The 29 inch cockpit is also on all Arrow decks except the A14 double deck which does not have cockpit rims.

Breathable Spray Skirt for 600D Decks

The longer 36 inch cockpit takes the larger spray skirt. It is on all XT kayaks and on all Puffin decks made for 2009. This includes new style Puffin Sport decks as well as decks for Puffin Saco and Puffin Saranac. The larger spray skirt shares the features of the smaller one. In addition, the larger one is reinforced with an aluminum rod across to minimize pooling of water.

Foot Rest (Inflatable Bar)

The foot rest has a comfortable inflatable bar across to rest feet against. The position is adjustable while on the water by a strap attached under the forward edge of the seat. The foot rest can be installed in both Puffins and XTs.

Inflatable Seat

This is a mini-Thermarest pad in a protective cover that attaches to PakCanoe seats - and to most standard canoe seats. We have tested self inflating pads as well as gel pads on a canoe trip. Both pads worked well, but the gel pad was much heavier, and we could not see that it had any advantages over the self-inflating one. There is a trick to using the self inflating pad. If it is fully inflated, you may feel that your position is unstable. You can solve this problem by letting out air until you start feeling contact with the seat itself.

Triple Mount Board for Scotty Rod Holders

Pakboats has adapted Scotty's standard Mount Board so it will clamp securely to the gunwales on Puffins and PakCanoes. The Mount Board accepts three of Scotty's accessories in any combination. You can have three fishing rods. You can have just one or two rods and a cup holder and/or GPS. There are quite a few possible combinations to suit your needs.

This seat is made with a woven webbing top on a wooden frame. It spans the width of the canoe and rests on horizontal rails attached to the canoe frame. The seat is adjustable forward & back and can also be adjusted up & down.

Pedestal Sliding Canoe Seat

This unique seat offers two alternative paddling positions - horizontal for sitting and slanted forward to support kneeling. Knee Pads

A pair of 1/2″ thick 5″ x 45″ knee pads install lengthwise in the PakCanoe to cover the cross rib in front of and behind your knees. They fit in the space inboard of the chine and provide a stable stance for kneeling. The pads protect your shins and give your knees an inch of foam padding.

Keel Strip Kit

A keel strip covers the bottom of the boat under each longitudinal rod and adds abrasion resistance where it is most needed. Each new PakCanoe comes with the reinforcement strips factory installed, and the Keel Strip Kit is used to repair worn reinforcement strips. The Keel Strip Kit consists of a 17 ft long and 3 inches wide 30 mil strip of black PVC film, adhesive, and installation instructions

Spray Cover 160, 165, 170

The cover is made of sturdy polyurethane coated fabric and attaches to the canoe skin with a lacing system that allows loads above the level of the gunwales. Aluminum wave deflectors support the spray cover in front of each cockpit, and rope pockets at each end keep ropes handy, yet organized.

A spray cover will keep you and your gear dry in the rain and keep spray out of the canoe in waves and whitewater. It will also keep you much warmer and more comfortable on a cold and windy day. A cover is not a substitute for prudent judgment in the wilderness.

Portage Yoke (specify model)

A shaped wooden yoke clamps securely to the gunwales. Installation takes less than 2 minutes and on a two-person canoe, the yoke can be left on while under way to act as a center thwart.

With the portage yoke you can easily do a one-man carry. To balance the canoe on your shoulders, mount the yoke so that the canoe tends to tip down behind you. You can then use the weight of your arms to balance it.

Motor Mount (Max 2hp)

The motor mount is primarily intended for electric trolling motors, but will also work for outboards up to 2 HP. To use a motor, you need to counterbalance its weight. Place about 50 lbs in the boat on the opposite side from the motor, forward of center. Add flotation in the stern, equal to the weight of motor and battery. A large water jug works well.

The motor mount has fixed clamps attaching to the gunwale in front of and behind the motor bracket. A single clamp on the opposite side of the PakCanoe or Puffin is adjustable to fit the beam of the boat you attach the motor mount to.

With its flexible clamping system the motor mount works on all PakCanoes and on most Puffins, but gasoline outboards should only be used on the larger PakCanoes.

Canoe Rowing Rig

The rowing rig clamps securely to the PakCanoe's gunwales and supports the oar locks at the appropriate position for rowing. Rowing your canoe, you can move faster and more easily than with a paddle.

The PakCanoe rowing rig has 3 main parts. A thwart with adjustable clamps can be secured to canoes with different beam. The thwart anchors the inboard ends of the two diagonal arms. Each diagonal arm also clamps to the gunwale and extends a few inches outside the gunwales to support the oar locks.

The simple design of the Pakboats rowing rig makes it inexpensive, yet it makes the PakCanoe a very efficient rowboat.
